No place like Home

I wanted to take a moment to give a round of applause to our friend, Terron Skipper. who has been serving our country in the Marines on a tour of duty in Iraq. Terron arrived home to Hawaii yesterday. While Terron was on tour, his beautiful wife, Bobi, gave birth to their adorable son Logan. Terron met Logan for the first time yesterday.

Terron is a friend of Laci's. They graduated from High School together. He is one of the finest young men we have had the honor of meeting. I have to fight back a lump in my throat as I think of this brave young Soldier who is so far away from his precious family fighting for my freedom. I pray I never take for granted the freedom I am given or the young men and women that fight for the rights I have. We have prayed for Terron as he has been away and Praise the Lord for his safe return. Terron, from the bottom of my heart, Thank you. May God continue to bless you and keep you safe!!!

Thank you for allowing us to share your precious reunion with your family. It is something I will never forget.

To TOTALLY change the subject: On another mention of "HOME" there was "NO place like Home" as our friend Cara celebrated her birthday with a Wizard of Oz party a few weeks ago. Her mom, Erika, asked me to do the cake. We decided on a Ruby slipper Cake. Erika is one of those cool, artsy moms that always has the CUTEST Birthday parties!!

Dancing with Cinderellas

Saturday was our Annual Father-Daughter Valentines Dance. Jody took and danced with the two most lovely Cinderellas there.

We've recently heard a song by Stephen Curtis Chapman entitled Cinderella. It will put into perspective how quickly they grow up and bring a tear to most daddy's eyes. You can listen to it here http://video.aol.com/video-detail/steven-curtis-chapman-cinderella/2091518691

She spins and she sways
To whatever song plays
Without a care in the world
And I'm sitting here wearing
The weight of the world on my shoulders It's been a long day
And there's still work to do
She's pulling at me
Saying "Dad I need you! There's a ball at the castle
And I've been invited
And I need to practice my dancing
Oh please, Daddy, please!"
Chorus:So I will dance with Cinderella
While she is here in my arms'
Cause I know something the prince never knew
Oh I will dance with Cinderella
I don't want to miss even one song'
Cause all too soon the clock will strike midnight
And she'll be gone

She says he's a nice guy and I'd be impressed
She wants to know if I approve of her dress
She says, "Dad the prom is just one week away
And I need to practice my dancin'
Oh please, Daddy, please!"

So I will dance with Cinderella
While she is here in my arms'
Cause I know something the prince never knew
Oh I will dance with Cinderella
I don't want to miss even one song'
Cause all too soon the clock will strike midnight
And she'll be gone
She will be gone

But she came home today with a ring on her hand
Just glowin' and tellin' us all they had planned
She says, "Dad the wedding's still six months away
but I need to practice my dancin
'Oh please, Daddy, please!"

So I will dance with Cinderella
While she is here in my arms'
Cause I know something the prince never knew
Oh I will dance with Cinderella
I don't want to miss even one song'
Cause all too soon the clock will strike midnight
And she'll be gone

Posting the blog this morning, I ran across this photo of Jody and the girls two years ago before the dance. My my, how quickly they grow up!!
